Under BI, CAC, CADI, and DD, the caregiver must share the person's primary residence and own or lease it. Under AC and EW, the caregiver need not live there but must be unpaid or paid for only part of their caregiving time.

Discuss the exact dates and nighttime needs. The arrangement requires authorization and confirmed staffing. Out-of-home 24-hour respite has a limit of 30 consecutive days per occurrence; that limit is not an available booking or a guaranteed allowance.

Describe each task before arranging coverage. Ask who is qualified to perform it and whether it can be included safely in the agreed plan. Do not assume a respite worker can replace nursing or carry out every existing care task.

Not automatically. Minnesota excludes several combinations, including customized living and community residential services, except for specific disaster provisions. Ask your case manager to check your current services and eligibility before scheduling.
