Start with a community-living goal in the authorized plan. Examples to discuss include a meal-planning routine, organizing household tasks, or preparing for a community activity. Family training is not a blanket promise of clinical instruction, medication management, or transfer training.

Not every relative must attend. Adults must need support and training together with their family. Children may need it themselves or together with family. The person must live in the family's home and meet BI, CAC, CADI, or DD requirements. Confirm participants with the case manager.

An authorized community-living activity can take place in a public community setting. Living in the family's home remains an eligibility requirement. Agree on the location, access needs, and travel arrangements before planning a session.
